Synopsis by Rob Ferrier
This video examines the music of the borderlands region of the Southwest United States and Northern Mexico. What is referred to as single music of Tex-Mex is actually comprised of several different styles including norteno, corrido, and more mainstream genres as typified by the music of men like Ry Cooder. Straddling many a cultural line and often suffused by imagery of lawlessness and death, the music of this region is unique and still remains vibrant.
