Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
In this one-reel action melodrama from the Selig Polyscope Company, Harold Lockwood played Hal Arnold, a forest ranger saving the girl he loves from a raging forest fire. The girl, Betty Carroll (Mabel Van Buren), had been left to her own devices in the wilderness by a cowardly city slicker (Henry Otto), who naturally gets his comeuppance. Tested By Fire contained one of the earliest screen appearances of Charles "Slim" Whitaker, a paunchy character actor who would on to appear in innumerable B-Westerns until his retirement in the late '40s.
