synopsis
Teresa Venerdi was the third directorial effort of Italian filmmaker Vittorio DeSica. Like the first two, it is an inconsequential effort, though put together with style and finesse. This slight tale of an amorous doctor who tries to remain faithful to both his fiancee and his mistress was co-scripted by DeSica, who managed to reserve a juicy on-camera role for himself. The director would not truly hit his stride with 1943's The Children Are Watching Us, the first of many collaborations with scripter Cesar Zavattini. Teresa Venerdi has also been released as Doctor Beware and Mademoiselle Friday.
