One man's failure to prevent an act of shocking violence has disturbing consequences in this gritty drama from Tunisian filmmaker Jilani Saadi. Stoufa (Mohamed Hassine Graya) is a ne'er-do-well edging into his thirties who hasn't done much with his life -- he can't hold down a steady job, he's constantly arguing with his parents, and his friends are a pack of thugs who look to drugs, booze and violence to bring excitement to their evenings. One night, while drunk and stoned and wandering the streets, Stoufa and his buddies come across Aziza (Anissa Daoud), a sexy dancer who turns tricks in her spare time. Stoufa's friends rape Aziza, even though he tries to stop them, and when her brothers come looking for the men who attacked their sister, Stoufa is the one who takes a brutal beating. After waking up in the hospital, a bitter Stoufa imagines a way to get even with Aziza for not coming to his defense, though his plans are muddled when he begins to fall in love with her. Ors el Dhib (aka Tender Is The Wolf was screened in competition at the 2006 Dubai Film Festival.
