One of BBC television's earliest weekly series, Telecrime premiered on August 10, 1938 in an odd ten-minute time slot. A team of crack British mystery writers churned out quickie crime stories and whodunits, presenting all the clues on camera and challenging the viewers at home to solve the mystery before the final fadeout. Canceled for the duration of WWII, Telecrime briefly returned in 1946, this time in a weekly 15-minute slot.
