Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This video features a performance by the Nederlands Dans Theater of Haydn's Symphony in D, in the Hague. The ballet company is under the direction of Jiri Kylian. Called a "choreographic genius" by critics, Kylian expresses his talents here in his eclectic, surreal interpretation of a ballet classic. Drawing on many sources, he creates a ballet that is unique and personal. There is an interview with Kylian, and a look at the choreographer and his dancers during rehearsal. This is followed by a complete performance of the Symphony in D.
