Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In this adaptation of Sir. Arthur Wing Pinero's play, Mary Miles Minter plays the title character. Lavender helps out at a college boarding house run by a woman she believes to be her mother. One of the freshmen staying there is Clem Hale (Harold Goodwin), and he and Lavender have a romance. But Clem's guardian, the snobbish Horace Weatherburn (Milton Sills), disapproves of the match and orders that it stop. Then it turns out that the woman in charge of the boarding house is really Lavender's aunt -- the girl's real mother was married to Weatherburn and had left him only to die in childbirth. Since the aunt blames Weatherburn for her sister's unhappiness, she too disapproves of the match, and sends Lavender away to school. Then Clem becomes seriously ill, and Lavender leaves the school and slogs through a fierce rainstorm to get to him. Weatherburn, who now knows the truth about her, finds her laying, exhausted, by a stream, and takes her to Clem.
