Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
During the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, Vajta, a young factory hand, marries Elena, a spoiled and cynical society girl. When he is in danger from the Gestapo, she does nothing to help him. Indeed, she soon tells him of her wish for a divorce. Disgusted, he and his friends run off to the hills to join the resistance.
