Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Superchefs was a prime example of the "cooking game show" format so prevalent on British television in the 1990s. The series featured 40 of the best chefs in England, Europe, Asia, and the United States, all competing in a winner-take-all cook-off. A panel of celebrities, newspaper food critics, and lucky audience members judged the tasty results. Hosted by Penny Smith, Superchefs began its run over the Carlton Food Network in 1999.
