Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
The crisis of conscience of a young, inexperienced Swiss customs agent who works on the Italian border is the theme of this wartime movie. During the Second World War, Switzerland was neutral, but it had rationing. Many items which were normally freely traded could only be had from smugglers. Early in the film, the customs agent shot such a smuggler during a raid, and the smuggler died. The agent wonders if he did the right thing. This Swiss film is in the Italian language.
