Debuting over ITV in 1996, the British drama series Staying Alive concerned itself with a group of student nurses working in a large London hospital. During the first six episodes, the series' title was symbolic, with the nurses struggling to "stay alive" professionally as they went about their duties. But during the final six installments, the title took on literal dimensions as the young women were stalked by an unknown assailant -- unknown, that is, until the final 60-minute program, which aired in late 1997.
