Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This Tom Keene western casts the leading man as a lawkeeper who accidentally kills his best friend (Creighton Chaney, aka Lon Chaney Jr.) when the latter becomes involved with an outlaw gang. Tom adopts his dead pal's son (David Durand), raising him as his own. The one startling aspect of the narrative is that the bandits are not treated as out-and-out villains, but as coolheaded journeyman laborers who happen to be on the wrong side of the law. Julie Haydon, who later originated the stage role of Laura in The Glass Menagerie, is Keene's leading lady. Unlike many of Tom Keene's RKO westerns, this is set in the 19th rather than the 20th century.
