A unique blend of documentary, narrative, and non-narrative filmmaking styles, Somatography analyzes the landscape of Southern California -- in particular, the somewhat-bohemian areas of North Hollywood and Echo Park -- and uses it to explore the nature of storytelling. Director Erika Suderburg invites various community groups from the city -- in particular, gay and lesbian groups -- to recount fictions and personal histories over top of a series of images that call into question what is real and what is fabricated.
