Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Helen and Marion (both played by Bessie Barriscale) are twin sisters who get themselves in several odd fixes before the denouement of this melodrama. Helen is a talented singer, while Marion is a shallow pleasure-seeker. A few days before Helen is to open in an opera, she is run down by millionaire Monte Bruce (Charles Gunn). She is crippled, and Marion takes her place on stage, while she sings the part from the wings. Monte falls in love with Marion, and they marry. Their honeymoon involves a cruise and they take Helen along. An accident on the yacht causes Monte to go blind, and Marion, thinking it's permanent, has an affair with Jack Mason (Howard Hickman), the general manager. Helen pretends to be Marion to keep Monte from discovering the situation. But Monte gets his sight back and finds out the truth. There's a fire on the ship, and Marion and her lover are conveniently killed. Helen, who has fallen in love with Monte, recovers from her injuries, and they marry. The use of double exposures made scenes between the two sisters possible, and 1917 was still early enough for audiences to be impressed by this.
