Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The 1964 Russian version of Sleeping Beauty consists of a performance of the Tschiakovsky ballet of the same name. Ballerina Alla Sizova dances the principal role of Princess Aurora, while Yuri Soloziev is seen as the Prince, and Natalia Dudinskaya is seen as the Wicked Fairy. The story--Aurora's 100-year snooze, climaxed by a kiss--is as ever. The film utilizes the talents of two directors, both of whom are content to merely record the ballet, minus any fancy cinema pyrotechnics. The Russian title of this film was Spyashchaya Krasavitsa.
