Synopsis by Mark Deming
Filmmaker Emma Hart literally puts a bit of herself on film in this experimental short subject. In Skin Film 2, Hart creates abstract images by literally putting the patterns of her skin on a length of clear leader, using clear adhesive tape to lift the geometric shapes and swirls of her flesh and stamp them onto film. The result is a dense pattern of crosshatching which makes for a unique portrait of the artist. Skin Film 2 was screened in competition at the 2006 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
