Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Ramesh Saigal directs this passionately nationalistic drama about the Quit India movement and the resulting surge in terrorism and sabotage for the sake of Indian independence. The idealistic son of colonial bureaucrat Raibahadur Dwarkadas (Chandramohan), Ram (Dilip Kumar) runs away from home to join a band of terrorists. His girlfriend Sheela (Kamini Kaushal) -- the very picture of Indian feminine virtue -- repeatedly saves her love from the police, only be forced into a marriage with the evil cop Vinod. Though Sheela's husband agrees to release her brother Gopal from jail and to save Ram, her former sweetheart gets captured and hanged. Sheela dies soon thereafter.
