Synopsis by Sally Barber

Georges Seurat, founder of the French school of neo-impressionism, was one of the most important artists of the 19th century. Seurat approached painting with the mind of a scientist. He spent years studying color theories and structure. The artist is best known for the development of a technique called pointillism or divisionism. Seurat's method involved applying paint to a canvas using very small brush strokes to create stunning contrasts and effects. Seurat: Point Counterpoint provides an introduction to the master and his original technique. Film highlights include insightful commentary from painter Bridget Riley and sculptor Henry Moore.
