synopsis
A railroad signalman (Werner Krauss) has his life turned upside down when an inspector seduces his daughter. When his wife finds out, the distraught mother runs out into the cold night and freezes to death before a stone landmark crucifix. The daughter confesses her ordeal to her father, and the man goes after the seducer with the intent of strangling him.
