Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Jayant Desai directs this big budget historical epic about Chandragupta -- the Indian emperor who first befriended and then defeated Alexander the Great, establishing the Maurya empire in 321 BC. The film centers on Chandragupta's friendship with Greek military man Seleucus Nicator, whose daughter Helen the Indian king is said to have married after saving the two from the villainous Antigonus. Later in the film, the king is forced to fend off a number of coup attempts, thanks to the help of the politically deft Chanakya.
