Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
A naïve ex-Navy officer falls victim to a gang of bumbling crooks in this comedy based on a novel by Nathaniel Benchley. Former Navy seaman Gilbert Barrows (Robert Wagner) is attempting to impress his boss' daughter by sailing a fleet of ramshackle scows when small-time con man Bugsy F. "Captain" Foglemeyer (Ernie Kovacs) claims to be a shipwright in an attempt to commandeer the ship for a robbery. Later, when Barrows and his girlfriend are captured, Goglemeyer seizes control of the vessel. But Barrows still has one last trick up his sleeve, and if he can just signal the Coast Guard, all will end well.
