R.O.T.O.R. (1988)
by Jeremy Wheeler review

In the land of baffling video gems of the '80s, R.O.T.O.R. stands in royalty as one of the kings of "did you just see that?" cinema. The film lives in its own universe of the über-'80s, where wise-crackin' robots run government-sponsored experiments and characters with names like Barret Coldiron and Sgt. Mango lay down their own brand of priceless dialogue (e.g., "It's like a chain saw set on frappe!"). Add in bottom-of-the-barrel stop-motion effects and a sub-Terminator-meets-Robocop plot, and R.O.T.O.R. is just about complete -- or it would be if one didn't mention the marvelous dubbing and exceptional casting. Best viewed with a group of similarly minded B-movie enthusiasts and copious amounts of party supplies, R.O.T.O.R. is a gift of a flick that will keep on giving just as long as there are copies out there for the right people to find.
