Dr. Robert Goddard, more than any other scientist, made space travel possible. From his research, development, and experiments, human beings were able to send satellites into orbit, probes into regions of Earth's solar system, people into space and to the moon, as well as to create new weapons of war. In 1926 Goddard successfully launched two rockets using liquid hydrogen, ushering in a new era of possibilities for the human race. During World War II, the Germans stole his patents to build their own rockets, which attacked London; his research produced the battlefield missiles used for offensive and defensive missions, and rockets that heralded human space exploration. This 60-minute documentary narrated by actor Ed Harris looks at Goddard's work and those of his contemporaries in the field of rocketry during the 20th century.
