As directed by Thomas Gibson, this straightforward biographical documentary chronicles the rise to fame of dance-pop queen Rihanna. Beginning with her impoverished childhood on the West Indian island of Barbados, the film discusses the singer's fortuitous discovery in her teens by music mogul Evan Rogers, her audition for Def Jam Records and contract with that label, her smash hit "Pon de Replay" in summer 2005, and ultimately, the release of the album Good Girl Gone Bad that turned her into an international superstar.
