Synopsis by Dan Pavlides
In this plodding World War II drama, Valentis is drafted into the Greek Army just days before he is to marry Anna, and Anna discovers she is pregnant shortly after her lover's plane is reported missing. After the baby is born, mother and child go to live with a girlfriend who turns to prostitution to help support the threesome -- and Anna herself becomes a joy girl when she discovers what her friend has done to help her. When Valentis comes back at the end of the war and once again asks Anna to marry him, she agrees but tells him nothing of the child. Anna considers her reputation to be ruined because of her past and she thinks of suicide as her only alternative.
