The intense and exquisite life of the Prima Ballerina Absoluta is portrayed in this engaging documentary. Alexandra Danilova was a legendary dancer with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, Imperial Ballet School in Russia and the School of American Ballet. Though never married to George Balanchine, they had a long and special relationship. In the 1930s, Danilova left Russia for the U.S., where she continued to dance, teach, and perform. This video is an intimate portrait of an important artist naering the end of her life as she teaches and coaches young dancers at the School of American Ballet.
