synopsis
A woman weighs her conscience against the dreams of her child in this short drama from filmmaker Li-Anne Huang. Linda (Chiasui Chen) was worked for years in New York City's Chinatown as a masseuse to support her ten-year-old daughter Dee (Brenda Hom). Linda's job doesn't earn her much money, and when Dee asks for a pair of expensive new shoes, Linda has no idea how she could afford them. Sean (Brian Yang), one of Linda's regular customers, suggests a lucrative but illegal business proposition, and Linda has to choose between her personal ethics and her desire to give Dee the things she wants. Red Shoes received its world premiere at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
