A Los Angeles law student discovers his Mexican roots after crossing the border to inform his grandparents that his father has died. Rigo always thought he had the perfect family, but his father has kept him sheltered from the truth. Not only has Rigo's mother been carrying on an extended affair with one of her co-workers at the hospital, but his outwardly studious younger sister harbors a few shocking secrets of her own. If everything goes as planned Rigo will soon be an immigration lawyer, a career he has chosen in hopes of helping his father reconnect with his parents in Mexico. Then just as Rigo's plan is about to come to fruition, his father passes away unexpectedly. Devastated, the loyal son recruits his good pal Fer to help him track down his grandparents in Mexico, and bring a sense of closure to his father's life. But accomplishing that goal won't be easy, because Mexico is unfamiliar territory to Rigo, and not everyone from his father's homeland is helpful when it comes to dealing with foreign visitors.
