The Ragged Heiress on AllMovie

This Peg O' My Heart-type character was a typical role for Shirley Mason. When her father is carted off to prison, three-year-old Lucia Moreton (Eileen O'Malley) is sent to live with a mercenary bunch of relatives who only wish to use her fortune for their own purposes. The little girl is kidnapped by a loving but poverty-stricken nurse who raises her. Lucia reaches maturity (to be played by Mason) and winds up getting a job as a maid of all work for the very same relatives who mistreated her before. They don't recognize her, and her lot as their employee is at least as bad as it was when she was living with them before. When Lucia's father gets out of prison, the relatives convince her to pose as their missing ward -- who, of course, turns out to be Lucia herself. Everything gets straightened out, Lucia gets her fortune, and she also wins handsome Glen Wharton (John Harron).
