Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Queen of the Roses was the American title for this eight-reel Pathe production, apparently filmed in Italy. The film was based on a then-current cause celebre known as the Manuel-Gaby Affair. All the names were changed, of course, even unto setting the film in a mythical kingdom. The year of the film's origin is uncertain; according to Variety, its producers had been trying for years to secure an American release. Evidently a poor and badly executed film, Queen of the Roses played for only a week in New York before it returned to the obscurity from whence it came.
