Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This in-depth documentary is the result of a year and a half the filmmaker, a sociologist, spent with more than a dozen pygmy tribes. It is one of the few films to record the customs of the now nearly vanished quiet people of the African forests. Like many indigenous peoples displaced by more aggressive neighbors, they lived in great harmony with their environment. The film features narration by Lorne Greene and the soundtrack includes much native pygmy music from the Ituri Forest region of Africa.
