When Mae Murray moved from Lasky Productions to Universal, she took her favorite director (and then-husband) Robert Z. Leonard along for the ride. Murray's first vehicle under her Universal contract was Princess Virtue, a minor romantic yarn set in a backlot Paris. Though amorously pursued by every boulevardier within hailing distance, heroine Liane Demarest (Murray) manages to retain her integrity until the "right man" comes along. According to the trade magazine Variety, Murray's performance in Princess Virtue was not her best, nor was she as attractively garbed as she'd been in her Lasky days. Also, the film was rather carelessly edited; in one scene, it appeared as if Paris had suddenly developed a seacoast!
