Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Director Benjamin F. Wilson stars Neva Gerber, his favorite leading lady (onscreen, though apparently not in life), in this routine drama. Adela Monmouth (Gerber) is a Southern girl who aspires to be a singer. After the death of her father (Spottiswood Aitken) and brother (Charles King), she makes her way to New York to fulfill her dream. Shortly before his death, Adela's father told her the story of her mother, who ran away with a man who betrayed her. He doesn't reveal the man's name, which is unfortunate because Adela meets him and believes his promises to make a star of her. Owen Barwell (Ashton Dearholt), who loves Adela, finds out about her situation and arrives in New York to warn her. But Adela has already figured out the guy's true character and has set out to avenge her mother's ruined life. Barwell confesses that the cad is really his father, and that he is embarrassed to be related to him. He stops Adela before she does anything to get herself in trouble, and they marry.
