The tragedy of a greedy and sexually voracious duchess who is set for eviction from London's Dorchester Hotel serves as the centerpiece for Thomas Adès' 1995 chamber opera performed by actors Mary Plazas, Heather Buck, Dan Norman, and Graeme Broadbent. Adès conducts the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, in a performance directed for the stage by David Alden and directed for television and film by Margaret Williams.
