Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Thaw is the symbolic English-languaged title of the North Korean Pomnalui Nunsogi. The heroine is a wealthy Korean girl, living in Japan with her social-climbing parents. The girl messes up all of her folks' carefully mapped-out schemes when she falls in love with a poor Korean boy. Her folks put the kibosh on her wedding plans, demanding that she hold out for a richer bridegroom. Pomnalui Nunsogi lambastes both the pretensions of upper-class Korean culture and those who'd abandon their own national heritage to embrace those pretensions.
