Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The Pleasure Buyers was based on a novel by Arthur Somers Roche. Heroine Joan Wiswell (Irene Rich) finds her life at stake when she is implicated in a murder. Her original intention was to shield her brother Tommy (Don Alvarado), who may or may not have committed the crime. Now it develops that the murdered man was himself a murderer, providing a motive for the real killer, who doesn't want Joan to figure out what's going on. He needn't have worried; no one knew what was going on in Pleasure Buyers, least of all the audience. Clive Brook co-stars as police commissioner Tad Workman, who's as confused as everyone else; also in the cast is June Marlowe, four years before her stint as Miss Crabtree in the "Our Gang" comedies.
