Tyrone Power was a mere toddler when his father, Tyrone Power, Sr., played the heavy in this seven-reel drama. New Englander David Mann (Lamar Johnstone) leaves the comforts of the East Coast for southern Mexico, where he and his friends have invested in a rubber plantation. Almost immediately he incurs the wrath of Ludwig Hertzer (Power), a brutal planter who lusts after the same girl that Mann loves. Mann does his best to improve the workers' conditions at the plantations, and further angers Hertzer when he stops him from beating one of his Yaqui slaves. A team of grafters are manipulating the goings-on at the plantation and Mann has to return East to deal with them. While he is away, Hertzer lures the girl he loves by claiming he's starting a school on the plantation. Instead he makes her a prisoner. But before he can force himself on her, the slaves revolt and Hertzer is beaten. He dies just as Mann returns to the plantation to save the girl.
