A series of abstract images, forms, and movements comprises Barbara Buckner's Pictures of the Lost. Known for her almost religious and highly moving installation work, this video finds Buckner exploring a similar emotional strata. The images themselves, divided into 22 sections, are variously intimate and personal but always maintain a distance. Never charged with emotion, Buckner's images are designed to have effects, a strategy little-used in high art nowadays, and the viewer must calibrate their sensibilities to the images before one begins to feel their subtle but very real pull.
