Synopsis by Sally Barber
Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, is known for his ability to reflect world changes in his paintings, drawings, sculptures, and ceramic art. In 1946, the artist was offered the use of a castle at Antibes. During this early postwar period, Picasso worked fervently and prolifically filling the medieval "studio" with spirited creations, expressing reaffirmation of life. Joie de Vivre is the quintessential work of this period. The painting features frolicking nymphs, satyrs, fauns, and centaurs. This film pays tribute to Picasso's most joyful celebration of life and art.
