In typical backward fashion, there exists a Hooterville Volunteer Fire Department Band--but there's no Hooterville Fire Department. It seems that they've got the money for instruments, but no firefighting equipment. Under the semi-skilled guidance of bandleader Uncle Joe (Edgar Buchanan), the band stages a concert in hopes of raising the necessary funds. (Trivia note: Tom Fadden, the actor playing Ben Miller, was only six years younger than Walter Baldwin, the actor playing Ben's grandpa!)
