The Pearl of Death on AllMovie

Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) matches wits with master criminal Giles Conover (Miles Mander), who plans to steal the valuable Borgia Pearl right under the noses of Scotland Yard. Assisting Conover is a lovely but dangerous young woman (Evelyn Ankers) who assumes a series of disguises to throw Holmes off the track. Holmes attempts to figure out the connection between Conover's activities and a mysterious series of brutal murders in which the victims' backs are broken and every piece of chinaware owned by victims is smashed. The Great Detective traps Conover by turning his own henchman--the murderous "Creeper" (Rondo Hatton)--against him. Pearl of Death is tenuously based on the Arthur Conan Doyle story The Six Napoleons.
