Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Telugu K. V. Reddy directs this wildly successful fantasy adventure flick about a young hero desperate to strike it rich. In order to marry his dearly beloved, the princess Indumati (Malathi), handsome, impoverished Thota Ramudu (N. T. Rama Rao) must somehow get a pile of money to pay for the dowry. Meanwhile, a dastardly magician (S. V. Ranga Rao) plots to turn the hero into a human sacrifice for the demanding goddess of the nether world Patala Bhairavi. The wizard enchants Thota with a magical bowl that creates gold while forcing him to endure a series of dangerous tasks including fighting off an army of crocodiles. Later, Thota tricks the sorcerer into getting beheaded. Satisfied with the bloody offering, Patala Bhairavi showers the hero with gold. This film proved to be so popular that Hindi and Tamil versions were quickly made and released.
