Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Danish director Michael Noer’s remake of the 1973 film of the same name counts two autobiographies of French convict Henri Charrière as source material. Charlie Hunnam stars as the film’s titular protagonist: a Parisian safecracker shipped off to a life of hardship and misery in a penal colony in French Guiana. With the help of currency counterfeiter Louis Dega (Rami Malek), he bides his time while waiting for the perfect opportunity to escape.
