Synopsis by Nathan Southern
As Julio Ruiz Llaneza's Spanish-language thriller Pacto de Hombres opens, the thief Don Carlos lies on his deathbed in prison, reflecting upon the rubies that he pilfered illegally - and his desire to bequeath them to his physically impaired daughter. In desperation, Don makes a pact with a fellow criminal, Eduardo - he asks Eduardo to find the gemstones, and then split the loot 50/50 with the crippled daughter. Eduardo's integrity and loyalty are never in doubt - but his acquisition of the rubies per se could potentially put his life into grave danger, and it remains uncertain if he can pull off the job unscathed.
