Outwitted could well have described the feelings of the audiences who were sold this convoluted bill of goods by a pack of greedy producers. Emily Stevens is in love with her husband Earle Foxe, but both stray from the nest when tempted. Tragedy results, in spades. The film was sloppily put together, with several key scenes appearing out of continuity (leading lady Stevens seems to be married, then unmarried, then married again in the twinkling of an eye). Frank Currier tried to hold things together with his masterful portrayal of a troubled Wall Street tycoon. The 1925 Helen Holmes-William Desmond vehicle Outwitted was not a remake.
