Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
The gap between generations in the rapidly changing 19th-century provides the focus of this Russian drama, adapted from Ivan Turgenev's classic novel. The story centers upon Avdyushko, a Russian nihilist whose life philosophy is firmly based upon the sensibilities of science. He finds himself trapped by the oppressive feudalism and traditional values of the country around him. His best friend is Martsevich, who fiercely defends his aristocratic family's rights to special privileges.
