Rick and Lily decide it is time that their children formally meet each other over dinner. Zoe is the only one looking forward to the evening -- eager to make a new friend in Jessie. Lily drops off a birthday gift at a friend's house and walks in on a book club meeting that she wasn't invited to join. Lily notices that Karen is part of the party. Meanwhile, at Rick's architectural firm, difficult client Miles Drentell interferes with Rick's working relationship with his partner David Todd Field. Karen and Judy meet in the bookstore and quickly strike up a friendship.
