Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Istvan Szabó helms this 1995 feature inspired by two of Jacques Offenbach's popular operettas: Croquefer and Les deux Aveugles. The drama travels behind the scenes of the staging of both productions, at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens in 1855. In the process, Szabó uses the backstage action to explore the intrigue, deception, and struggle for power associated with the period. The cast includes Laurence Dale as Patachon, Graham Clark as Giraffier, Tamás Jordan as Offenbach and Janos Kulka as Count de Morny.
