Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Odd Birds is set in 1965. The title characters are lonely parochial-school student Donna Lai Ming Lew and her teacher, monk Michael Moriarty. Lew wants to enter show business, but her mother vetoes this notion. Though expected to parrot the wishes of his students' parents, Moriarty encourages Lew in her ambitions. She wins an audition with a top Broadway choreographer-played by top Broadway choreographer Gower Champion (Bruce Gray). For a 16-millimeter "independent," Odd Birds certainly has a lofty talent lineup.
