Synopsis by Nathan Southern
This earnest war drama from Croatian director Arsen Anton Ostojic concerns Ivan (Alen Liveric), a 36-year-old former rock singer turned shell-shocked war veteran, his resolve all but shattered from the loss of both legs in the Croatian Homeland conflict. His father, Izidor, was a political prisoner in the former Yugoslavia but now stands in the running to be elected to the Croatian Parliament; Izidor's life permanently changes when a former Communist official who once oversaw his imprisonment, Simo, turns up as an impoverished refugee and blackmails Izidor, demanding money and threatening to publicize secrets that could destroy the man's campaign if he does not comply. To make matters worse, Simo also has an affair with Izidor's wife and Ivan's mother, Ana - and Ivan soon begins provoking Croatians to violence, freely and openly putting his life on the line.
